Learn more about transit services and road improvement projects in your community, and pick up some swag while you're at there. YRT system maps and foldable paper buses will also be available.

YRT Fare Changes Coming July 1, 2026

In November 2025, York Regional Council approved the 2026 budget which includes a 3% transit fare increase effective on July 1, 2026. The fare increase will help cover rising operating costs due to high inflation and help support the cost of delivering service to the Region. Over the next several years, transit will continue to make investments to improve service for travellers.

York Region Transit (YRT) is celebrating 25 years of service, and we invite you to celebrate with us this May at our Spring Anniversary Events!
YRT was established in 2001, bringing together previous transit systems to create a single, seamless transit network serving all nine York Region municipalities.

The York Region Transit (YRT) 2026-2030 Business Plan outlines how we plan to expand and enhance transit service to support York Region’s growing communities and changing customer and travel needs over the next five years.
York Region is expected to grow to 1.4 million residents and 745,000 jobs by 2031. The Plan responds to York Region’s dynamic and rapidly evolving communities and builds a roadmap for public transit to be a desirable travel option to connect people to places.
