YRT/Viva offers local and rapid transit services in all nine York Region municipalities. Almost 140 routes keep residents connected within York Region, as well as connecting services in the City of Toronto and the Regions of Peel and Durham. In addition, Mobility Plus provides door-to-door, shared-ride, accessible public transit service for people with disabilities.
Our two-hour transfers let you travel on any YRT/Viva vehicle for up to two hours, in any direction, with a single fare. Just remember to keep your validated ticket or transfer as proof of payment to board YRT/Viva vehicles.

York Region Transit was established in 2001 when The Regional Municipality of York amalgamated local municipal transit services.
- Since amalgamation, ridership on the system has grown to approximately 80,000 revenue riders per weekday and more than 22 million revenue riders annually (based on 2015 data).
- YRT/Viva serves a region of 1,776 square kilometres, with a population of 1.2 million and 0.6 million jobs (based on 2015 data).
The PRESTO fare card system launched in spring 2011 and YRT/Viva staff have registered thousands of fee-waived cards at events throughout York Region.
