YRT offers several payment options to purchase your YRT fare. Learn more about our payment options below:

PRESTO

PRESTO is the smart card fare option for YRT. With a PRESTO card, you won't have to worry about buying bus tickets, a paper monthly pass or having correct change to ride YRT.

Credit Card (PRESTO Contactless)

With PRESTO contactless payment you can tap your credit card, including in a mobile wallet, on a PRESTO device to pay your YRT fare.

How do I pay for my bus fare?

Customers can pay their YRT fare using a PRESTO card, the YRT Pay App, Transit App, credit card or with exact cash.

Can I pay cash fare?

Yes; however, we encourage customers to take advantage of discounted fares offered through a PRESTO card, YRT Pay App and the Transit App.

How do I get a PRESTO card?

Customers can purchase a PRESTO card online at the PRESTO card website or in-person at any Shoppers Drug Mart location and at YRT PRESTO fare agents. Visit our Where To Buy page to find the nearest PRESTO fare agent near you.

How do I use a PRESTO card?

How do I use the YRT Pay App?

How do I pay with the Transit App?

Does Mobility On-Request service accept PRESTO?

Yes. All payment methods are accepted on all Mobility On-Request services (PRESTO, YRT Pay App, Transit App, credit card and exact cash).

Can I use my PRESTO card to pay for a companion?

Yes, on Local (conventional) and Mobility On-Request services. To pay for additional passengers, tell the driver before you tap on. Additional adult epurse fare(s) will be deducted from your card balance.

For cross-boundary travel, companions must pay the full fare when transferring to other transit services.

This option is not available on Viva services.

What fare is required for TTC routes operating in York Region (north of Steeles Avenue)?

When travelling on any TTC route operating north of Steeles Avenue in York Region, you must pay YRT fare. Exact change, PRESTO, or the YRT Pay or Transit Apps will be accepted. Note that credit card is currently not accepted on TTC.

Customers travelling on TTC routes south of Steeles Avenue or the TTC subway must pay TTC fare.

Does YRT accept PRESTO contactless payment (credit card)?

Yes, you can pay your YRT fare with credit card or card on your mobile wallet. Simple tap your credit card on a PRESTO device on the bus or at a vivastation or terminal. Full cash fare will be charged to your card. Visa, Mastercard or American Express are accepted.
