On June 27, 2021, the age requirements for each fare category will be updated to create consistency with other Greater Toronto Hamilton Area transit agencies. There are no changes to fares.

Updates to all fare categories, except for seniors, including:

  • Adult fares applies to any person from the age of 20 to 64
  • Youth fares no longer require a student ID and applies to any person from the age of 13 to 19
  • Child fares applies to any person from the age of 6 to 12
  • Children up to the age of five years ride free
  • Proof of age is required upon request for all categories

Fare category definitions

1Adult: Ages 20 to 64 years.

2Youth: Ages 13 to 19 years.

3Senior: Ages 65+ years.

4Children: Ages six to 12 years. Children five years and under ride free.

5To ride Express with an Adult, Youth, Senior or Child fare, add 50 cents.

6Proof of valid GO Transit fare required. Ride to GO fares only available for purchase using PRESTO or cash fare on YRT routes.

Proof of age is required upon request for all fare categories. Any government-issued identification (or photocopy) will be accepted. Children without valid ID may be asked to confirm their age with questions such as which school they are currently attending.
