YRT's Mobility On-Request (MOR) 65+ service allows you to request transit when and where you need it.

YRT is offering an on-request transit service for seniors 65 years and older. The service is offered throughout York Region for seniors who want to try taking public transit using a smaller vehicle that picks you up at your home. MOR 65+ uses smaller vehicles like sedans, minivans and small buses to transport customers. Vehicles are thoroughly cleaned, drivers are equipped with proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and there is a limit to the number of passengers allowed in the vehicles at any one time.

If you are a senior travelling within York Region, simply call us during the hours listed below and MOR 65+ will pick you up and take you to your desired location within 5 km of your home. This can be a grocery store, doctor’s office, pharmacy or any other address. Please read below for more details and booking instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why can’t I book my trip the day before?

We have designed this as an on-request service. To avoid costly trip cancellations or no shows, we send trips to drivers in real-time rather than pre-booking.

For trips to a vaccination clinic, you may book up to two days prior to your scheduled appointment.

Can I travel with a companion?

To help with physical distancing, we encourage you to book for only one person. If you need to travel with someone, please let us know at the time of booking and we will check to see if a larger vehicle is available.

What should I do if I am going to be late for my pickup?

Please call us to let us know as soon as possible.

Is there a waiting period after I book my ride?

After you have booked your trip, a dispatcher will call you with a confirmed pickup time. Times are subject to availability. You may be offered a pickup time up to 60 minutes from the time requested to allow the vehicle to complete other trips.

Will I be sharing a ride with other travellers?

In smaller vehicles like a sedan, we book only one passenger at a time. If we book a trip using a small bus, we only allow a maximum of three to four passengers at a time.

Do I need to be a registered Paratransit client to use the service?

No. This is available to all seniors 65 years or older.

Can I bring shopping bags or boxes?

Yes, riders are welcome to bring a maximum of four shopping bags on the trip. There is a bag limit in place so that we can offer everyone a comfortable shared journey with adequate space. Please ensure each shopping bag weighs less than 10 pounds.
Our vehicles cannot accommodate big boxed items. Small boxes that are similar in size to shopping bags are fine. The same 10-pound maximum weight applies.
The total number of bags or small boxes cannot exceed four items.
