Accessible formats or communication supports are available upon request by contacting 1-866-744-1119.

Mobility On-Request Paratransit clients - we care about your safety. If you are concerned about any part of your trip, please call us immediately at 1-866-744-1119. A safe vehicle, securement and an escort to and from the door are our standards.

Mobility Devices

Proper fastening of personal mobility devices is available on all conventional YRT and Viva vehicles.

For added safety, passengers staying on their mobility devices during travel must use the lap belt as required by the Highway Traffic Act, section 106(3). Your driver will secure the device using the lap belt.

Travelling with Mobility Aids
All mobility aids are to be stored within reach of the passenger or in a secure place where it cannot cause harm to other passengers.
Mobility Aid Requirements

All mobility aids must be kept clean and in good condition. Both foot rests must be on the wheelchair. If staff cannot properly secure your mobility aid, we may not be able to provide service.

Mobility On-Request Paratransit vehicle wheelchair ramps/lifts vary from 29 to 34 inches wide. For safety reasons, equipment larger than this cannot be accommodated. The combined weight of the passenger and the mobility aid must not exceed 700 lbs.

If you would like an inspector to visit you for a mobility aid inspection, please call the Contact Centre at 1-866-744-1119 to schedule a visit.

Accessible Door for Escorting Passengers
All Mobility On-Request (MOR) Paratransit passengers will be escorted by the driver to and from the first accessible door. An accessible door is a driveway or curb cut for the ramp of a MOR Paratransit vehicle, with a flat, level and paved landing area with additional space for a mobility aid/passenger and driver. If needed, a MOR Inspector can visit your location to assess its accessibility. To ensure the safety of the passenger and driver, clients must ensure all snow, ice and other debris have been cleared to produce a barrier-free path between the residence doorway/departure area and the end of the driveway.
