Frequently Asked Questions
Why aren’t these routes coming back? |
YRT’s ridership continues to grow; however, travel patterns have changed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Majority of ridership demand is on main Regional corridors, such as Yonge Street, Jane Street and Highway 7. To support the traveller demand on these roads, transit resources including buses and service hours are being redistributed to support growth in these areas and the Frequent Transit Network (FTN). The FTN is being implemented in phases and consists of YRT routes operating at frequencies of 15 minutes or better, along busier roads in York Region, such as Yonge Street. The discontinued routes have existing transit options available to connect travellers to the FTN (see list of route options above). |
What is YRT doing with the resources saved from the discontinued routes? |
Resources are being redistributed to other routes and services with growing traveller demand. For example:

How does Mobility On-Request work? |
Mobility On-Request (MOR) allows you to request a ride to a location within the service area, and typically connects you to a stop where you can transfer to a bus route or takes you to a particular destination. Service is provided by smaller vehicles, such as sedan or van. There are MOR service areas in each local municipality. Visit our Mobility On-Request Service Areas page to learn more. |
How can I request for additional service or a change in service? |
Travellers are encouraged to share their feedback with us anytime, through one of the following methods:
Customer feedback is reviewed regularly and taken into consideration when implementing service changes. In addition, YRT undergoes an annual public consultation process to gather traveller feedback on YRT services for consideration for the following year. |
