Veterans ride YRT free in honour of Warriors’ Day

The Regional Municipality of York will honour Canadian war veterans this Warriors' Day by offering free YRT service to war veterans and immediate family members of deceased veterans on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
Veterans and one companion are free to travel all day, system-wide without charge. Veterans can identify themselves to YRT and On-Request operators by showing any of the following items: uniforms, medals, berets or blazers.

The York Region Transit (YRT) 2026-2030 Business Plan outlines how we plan to expand and enhance transit service to support York Region’s growing communities and changing customer and travel needs over the next five years.
York Region is expected to grow to 1.4 million residents and 745,000 jobs by 2031. The Plan responds to York Region’s dynamic and rapidly evolving communities and builds a roadmap for public transit to be a desirable travel option to connect people to places.

PRESTO E-Tickets Moving to PRESTO App and Website

Starting April 11, PRESTO E-Tickets will move to the PRESTO app and PRESTO website. E-Tickets will no longer be sold through the current PRESTO E-Tickets app or website.
Any e-tickets you’ve already bought can still be used through the PRESTO E-Tickets App until they are moved into the PRESTO app and website on April 12.
Your e-tickets will move automatically, but taking a simple step by April 12 will help you easily access them in the upgraded PRESTO App/website:
