Veterans Ride Free on YRT for Remembrance Day

On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, York Region is pleased to offer free transit service throughout York Region Transit and On-Request to veterans and immediate family of a deceased veteran.
Veterans and one companion can ride free by identifying themselves to YRT and On-Request operators by showing a uniform, medal, beret or blazer. The immediate family of a deceased veteran may also ride free by carrying something that identifies their relationship, such as an identification card or service papers.

York Region Transit (YRT) is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026 and we're starting the celebrations this fall by marking 20 years of Viva service in York Region!
To honour these milestones, we will be hosting special events, displays and contests throughout the year. The celebrations will begin this fall with YRT Viva Customer Appreciation events. Be sure to check back regularly for updates on upcoming events.

Come say hello to YRT and other York Region Public Works staff at these community events.
Learn more about transit services and road improvement projects in your community, and pick up some swag while you're at there. YRT system maps, York Region cycling maps and foldable paper buses will also be available.

Take YRT to the Health and Active Living Plaza

The Health and Active Living Plaza (HALP) is opening on October 17, 2025, in the Town of East Gwillimbury and YRT can take you there!
There are multiple transit options to get to the HALP:
- Route 50 – Queensway: Now servicing the HALP
- On-Request North-Central: YRT’s on-demand, ride-sharing service
- On-Request 65+: For seniors traveling within 5 kilometres of their home
- Mobility On-Request Paratransit: York Region’s door-to-door, shared ride, accessible public transit service for people with disabilities
Lost something on YRT? We’ve made it easier to report it!

We’ve launched a new and improved Lost and Found process to make it easier for you to report your lost items.
If you’ve misplaced something on a YRT vehicle or at a facility, simply fill out our new online Lost and Found form with details about your item, where you lost it, and when. Our team will do their best to locate it for you!
For those who prefer direct contact, the option to call to report your item is still available. For more information please visit the Lost and Found page.
